East District XC Stirling & Glencoe Night Swim 2018

Race Reports, October 23, 2018

Good morning everyone, hope you are all feeling refreshed and ready for the week ahead now that Monday is out of the way. This weeks race round-up saw some of our club members take part in XC races, trail races,10km races, cyclo-cross races and even some night swimming challenges.

Head Coach Neil and Beth Scholes travelled to Stirling for the East District XC race. Beth placed 91st/112 in the womens individual race in a time of 30mins 44 seconds and Neil placed 130th/229 in the males individual race in a time of 38mins 31 seconds. Also running in the XC at Stirling was club member Kevin Rogers who placed 120th/229 in the males individual race in a time of 37mins 56 seconds.

Mairi Gatherer (Coach and club member Lynn's wee lass), made her debut at the East District XC race competing in the U11 individual girls race (distance 1.65km) for Perth Strathtay Harriers. Mairi had a fantastic race and placed 35th/54 in a time of 7mins 39 seconds. Mairi's brother Struan was also racing in the U13 boys individual race (distance 2.7km) and placed 12th/85 in a time of 10mins 44 seconds!

Later that evening....Lynn Gatherer got wet-suited and booted to take part in the Glencoe Night Swim which was just short of 1km in distance. The swim is in aid of the Children’s Cancer Charity organised by Highland Open Water Swimmers - non profit. Approximately 50 people took part which started and finished in the bay of the Isle of Glencoe Hotel. Lynn reported that everyone was excited to get glowing, she felt ready for the challenge as she had fuelled up on 'Ready brek', the swim was a great success and she would happily glow and do it again! ;)

Fantastic racing - well done everyone, hopefully there weren't too many scary creatures in the loch Lynn!;)
