Smokies 10 Mile Ladies Only Road Race 2019

Race Reports, March 04, 2019

A few ladies from the club took off to Arbroath for this legendary 10 mile road race.

Morning everyone, we had quite a few club members taking part in running races over the weekend in lands far far away; Anglesey, Arbroath and Fife. We also had lots of mad club members keeping up with some weekend training from doing 100km cycle routes in ever so slightly breezy weather to some taking a dook in the North Sea!

Anyhoo, our first race round-up is The Arbroath 10 Mile Ladies Only Road Race (also fondly known as the ‘Smokies’ race). The race starts at Arbroath Sports Centre and follows an undulating scenic route. Club members Gail Murdoch and Gillian Kennedy still managed to tear up the tarmac as they battled their way through the strong winds with both ladies achieving great times; Gail finished in a time of 01:20:50 and placed 45th/468 and 7th in her category. Gillian finished in a time of 02:10:40 and placed 461st/468 and 19th in her category.

Fantastic racing ladies, now that you have both haddock-enough of this running malarkey, go and treat yourselves to a 'smokin' fish supper! 😄👏👏👏
