Sunday 10th June 2018 - Fife Properties Lochore Meadows Triathlon Festival

Media, June 13, 2018

An assemblage of PTC members travelled a fair distance to the Kingdom of Fife, to the bonny banks of Lochore Meadows Country Park last Sunday to take part in the Standard and Sprint Triathlon along with some PTC paparazzi that would give David Bailey a run for his money - (thank you Andrew Miller, Jo Connell and Kathleen Connor). Weather conditions were superb, cloudy to start with but warm and a calm loch to swim in, with blue skies emerging as the day went on.

First up was the standard wave, starting at 8.30am with the following PTC members; Mike Harvey, George Pounder, Billy Bunyan, Sylwester Nowocien, James Weir, Laura Kent, Alicja Weyer, Krzysztof Weyer and Gillian Kennedy. The swim consisted of two laps around the buoys and then a short run from the loch to the grassy transition area and out onto the road leading out of Lochore Meadows for an undulating cycle. Thanks to the watchful eye and quick thinking of Andrew Miller “SLY YOUR BIKE HELMET!” Sly did not run the 10km with his bike helmet on! Sly did however lose his timing chip in the depths of his wetsuit never to be found again, but the great organisation of the marshals’ made sure that Sly got his full timing results and ran a fab first Standard triathlon race.

Four remaining PTC members waited patiently to compete in the Lochore Sprint Triathlon with the first wave starting at 9am and the remaining waves following thereafter. Preparing mentally for what lay ahead and checking watches were at the ready to record their efforts, the four stood gallantly on the sand in their wetsuits waiting to defeat the loch (and as many other entrants as possible!)

Barney reported that he was delighted to beat his time from last year and put it down to some hard-core training at the Mallorca training camp with head coach Neil Scholes and all the nice folks at Performance Edge.
